Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as Private in Company B, 2nd Louisiana Infantry on 9 March 1861 in New Orleans. He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant 1 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the shoulder and chest, and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.

The rest of the War

He was listed as a paroled officer on 30 September in Sharpsburg, but died 11 October 1862. Originally buried on the field at Sharpsburg at the "the northern edge of Stephen Grove's woods". Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
