Before Sharpsburg

He had been a farmer in Minden, LA when he enlisted in Company G, 8th Louisiana Infantry on 23 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA. He reenlisted in April 1862. He was captured at Strasburg, VA on 2 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by gunshot and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army General Hospital in Frederick, MD and died 2 October 1862 of a gunshot wound. He was originally buried "on west side of and in the [Mt. Olivet] cemetery at Frederick." Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
