He was mortally wounded and captured in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was treated at a US Army field hospital in Boonsboro, MD but died there, date not given. He was originally buried at the Disciple Church in Boonsboro and probably reinterred in Hagerstown about 1874.
