Before Sharpsburg
Age 20 (30), from Anson County, he was conscripted and mustered as Private, Company F, 2nd North Carolina Infantry on 15 August 1862 in Raleigh.
On the Campaign
He was listed as missing in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 but was probably mortally wounded there.
The rest of the War
He was later listed as killed at Sharpsburg, and his father William Edwards filed for his final pay on 5 June 1863.
