He enlisted in Company C, 8th Florida Infantry on 10 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot, with fracture, in action, probably at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, and he was captured.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 22 October but died there on 14 November 1862.
