He gave his age as 20 when he enlisted May 9, 1861, in Company K, 2nd South Carolina Infantry. He then mustered in with Brooks Artillery on its organization on 28 January 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was again wounded at Gettysburg, PA and captured there on July 5, 1863. He was sent to Point Lookout Maryland, transferred to Fortress Monroe, March 2, 1864, and on the roster of "enlisted men, rebel deserters, and refugees awaiting orders at Camp Distribution" in New York March 10, 1864. There is no further record.
