Before Antietam
From Canton, he enrolled as Captain of Company E, 16th Connecticut Infantry on 1 August 1862, and mustered at that rank on 24 August.
On the Campaign
He commanded his Company at Antietam and was wounded in action there on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He resigned his commission on 18 December 1862.
