Before Antietam

Age 23, a leather dresser (or mechanic) from Leicester, he enlisted in Company D, 15th Massachusetts Infantry on 12 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was reported missing in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862, but was actually captured there.

The rest of the War

He was a prisoner in Richmond, then a paroled prisoner in the camp at Annapolis, MD by 15 October 1862. He was wounded and captured in May 1864 and died 8 November 1864 at Andersonville, GA while a prisoner of war.
