Age 30, a wheelwright from Brookfield on enlistment as Corporal in July 1861. Promoted Sergeant in Narch 1862. He was in Company F.

On the Campaign

First Sergeant at Antietam, he was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant 19 September 1862, First Lieutenant 8 January 1863 (not mustered at that rank). Discharged fo wounds 20 April 1863. Also service in Company H, 4th Massachusetts Cavalry.
