Before Antietam
He gave is age as 23 and occupation as shoemaker from West Brookfield when he enlisted in July 1861 as Private in Company F.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 near the West Woods at Antietam.
The rest of the War
His burial place is unknown, but he may have been among those of his regiment buried on the field at Antietam and later reinterred at the National Cemetery.
