Before Antietam
A 17 year old machinist from Sutton, he enlisted as Private in Company H, 15th Massachusetts Infantry in May 1861 and mustered in August.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
His father travelled to Sharpsburg and retrieved his body for burial at home.
