Age 18, a mechanic from Whitinsville, he enlisted as Private, Company H, 15th Massachusetts Infantry in July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the face in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Corporal on 1 January 1863 but was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863.
