Mentioned as "well" at Antietam in a 1 October 1862 letter from Francis Carpenter of Webster, published in The Webster Times, 4 Oct 1862 (Volume IV #29) - transcribed on Susan's Harnwell's 15th Massachusetts site. Served in 3-months 3rd Battalion Massachusetts Rifles, Company B, April - August 1861. Age 19, a shoemaker from Webster on enlistment in August 1861. Missing in action 30 June 1861 at Nelson's Farm, VA. Discharged for disability 22 November 1862.
