He's mentioned as being "well" at Antietam in a 1 October 1862 letter from Francis Carpenter of Webster, published in The Webster Times, 4 Oct 1862 (Volume IV #29) - transcribed on Susan's Harnwell's 15th Massachusetts site. Age 21, a laborer from Thompson, CT on enlistment as Corporal in April 1861. He died on 21 November 1862 at Alexandria, Alexandria, VA, of disease
