Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he was a 33 year old farmer at Hookertown in Greene County. He enlisted in Goldsboro on 13 May 1862 as a Private in Company A, 3rd North Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds at Staunton, VA on 22 September 1862. His widow Sarah filed for his final pay of $52.06 in April 1863.
