Before Sharpsburg

Age 21, he enlisted at Dogwood Grove, New Hanover County, NC on 10 June 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 3rd North Carolina Infantry. He was frequently in hospitals or home on sick furlough in later 1861 and into the Summer of 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His father Willobee filed a claim for his final pay in December 1864.
