Before Antietam
Age 25, he enlisted on 18 April 1861 in Brooklyn and mustered as Corporal, Company F, 84th New York (14th Brooklyn) Infantry on 23 May.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in the arm in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 29 September but died there of wounds and consumption (tuberculosis) on 12 October 1862.
