Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 26 year old farmer at Jackson Hill in Davidson County, NC. He was conscripted and enlisted in Davidson County on 8 August 1862 as a Private in Company D, 48th North Carolina Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured and paroled near Shepherdstown, VA by 29 September and died of wounds on 30 November 1862, place not given. His widow Margaret filed for his final pay in February 1863.
