Before Sharpsburg
A 34 year old "hireling" (wage laborer) in Davidson County, he enlisted at Wagners, NC on 3 March 1862 and mustered as Private, Company H, 48th North Carolina Infantry on 22 April.
On the Campaign
He died of disease at Harpers Ferry, VA on 20 September 1862.
The rest of the War
His widow Mary filed a claim for his final pay of $61.33 in May 1863.
