Age 22, from Dixmont, he mustered as Private, Company C, 7th Maine Infantry on 22 August 1861.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded by gunshot to the thigh in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick MD on 29 September but died there of wounds on 1 October 1862.
