He was slightly wounded in the arm in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He transferred to Company F, date not given, and transferred to the First Maine Veteran Infantry on 21 August 1864. He was discharged on 1 January 1865 at the end of his term of service.
