Before Antietam
In 1860 he was a 15 year old farm boy on his parents' place at Athens, ME. Giving his age as 18, he enlisted on 13 December 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company F, 7th Maine Infantry on 23 January 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
