Before Antietam
In 1860 he was a 16 year old farm worker on the Timothy Hodgdon place in Scarboro (Scarborough), ME. He enlisted and mustered as a Private in Company G, 7th Maine Infantry on 21 August 1861.
On the Campaign
He was reported missing in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was transferred to Company K, date not given, and was again missing, at Salem Heights, VA, on 4 May 1863. He mustered out with his Company on 21 August 1864.
After the War
By 1870 he was a mill worker in Saco, ME. Then a laborer, he died of heart failure in Old Orchard, ME at age 55 in 1900.
