Before Antietam

He was a student in the Class of 1862 at Bowdoin College when he enrolled as First Lieutenant of Company H, 7th Maine Infantry at age 21 on 21 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He was reported missing in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Captain, Company G in 1863 but was killed in action at Spotsylvania, VA on 18 May 1864.
