Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 16 year old worker on his parents' farm at Clifton, ME. He enlisted on 12 August 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company H, 7th Maine Infantry on 21 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the hand in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was transferred to Company I, date not given. He reenlisted on 12 December 1863 and was transferred to the First Maine Veteran Volunteers. He was killed at the Wilderness, VA on 5 May 1864.
