Before Antietam
Son of shoemaker Nathan Reed, in 1860 he was a 17 year old living with his parents and sister in Natick, Middlesex County, MA. On 29 June 1861, by then a shoemaker himself, he enlisted as a Corporal in Company H, 13th Massachusetts Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862 and died of wounds the next day.
