Age 23, a bootmaker in Upton, he enlisted on 16 July 1861 in Company K, 13th Massachusetts Infnatry.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in the shoulder action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was treated at a hospital in Chambersburg, PA, but died there on 1 October 1862 from wounds.
