Age 24, from Nunda, he enlisted in Geneseo and mustered as 5th Sergeant, Company A, 104th New York Infantry on 30 September 1861. He was appointed First Sergeant on 12 September 1862.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds on 10 January 1863, place not given.
