Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 21 year old on his parent's farm near Unionville in Monroe County, GA. He enlisted in Griffin, GA as a Corporal in Company C, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was furloughed for 63 days from 19 September 1862 and was back on duty on 19 November 1862. He was captured at Fisher's Hill, VA on 22 September 1864. He was paroled at Point Lookout, MD in November 1864, received at Venus Point, Savannah River, GA for exchange on 15 November. He was listed as absent without leave in Monroe County, GA by 28 February 28, 1865 with no later record. Pension records show he was sent to hospital, sick, March 15, 1865. He died soon afterward.
