In 1860 he was a 14 year old shoemaker's son living with his parents and siblings in Griffin, Spalding County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company F, 13th Georgia Infantry on 1 October 1861 on Yowell Mountain, Madison County, VA.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

His father Jeremiah filed for his final pay of $97.79 in January 1863.
