Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 27 year old turpentine worker at Octavia in Early County, GA. He enlisted as a Corporal in Company G, 13th Georgia Infantry on 5 August 1861 in Richmond, VA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, by gunshots to his face and in the back at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 12 May 1864. He was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.

After the War

By 1870 he was a farm worker near Blakely in Early County, GA and in 1880 was farming his own place there.
