He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured at Waterloo, PA on 5 July 1863. He was briefly a prisoner at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, then sent to Point Lookout, MD. He died there on 2 November 1863.
