Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 30 year old overseer on a farm near Octavia in Early County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company G, 13th Georgia Infantry on 4 May 1862 (or in September 1862 at Frederick, MD).

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on wounded furlough from 19 September to 19 October 1862, then returned to duty. He was wounded again, at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863 and by a gunshot to his right arm at Fort Stedman, near Petersburg, VA about 12 February 1865. He was in a Richmond hospital at the end of the war.

After the War

In 1870 he was a farmer near Blakely in Early County, GA and in 1880 was a farm worker in Miller County, GA.
