He enlisted as a Corporal in Company H, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 August 1861 at Richmond, VA.

On the Campaign

He was captured at Boonsboro, MD on 16 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was a prisoner at Fort Delaware until transferred to Aiken's Landing, VA on 2 October 1862 for exchange. He was officially exchanged on 10 November 1862. He was appointed First Corporal in 1863 and was wounded at Winchester, VA on 13 or 14 June 1863. He was wounded again, mortally, at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 10 May 1864 and died of wounds in the Second Corps Hospital on 16 May.
