He was "wounded by bomb" at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December 18623 and hospitals in Charlottesville and Lynchburg, VA with a concussion in December 1862. He was wounded again, by a gunshot to his right leg and ankle at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 12 May 1864. He was on furlough in Troup County, GA from 18 November 1863 to at least 28 February 1865, the latest military record in his file.

After the War

He was living in Meriwether County, GA by 1889 and to at least 1905.
