Before Antietam

He was 26 years old when he mustered in as 2nd Lieutenant, Company C, 7th NY Infantry on 23 April 1861. Promoted First Lieutenant, Company F in July, and Captain, Company G , 5 January 1862.

Probably wounded in the hand and leg on the Peninsula in July 1862, returned to New York (per NY Times)to recuperate.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

Died of wounds 26 February 1863.
