Before Antietam

A 37 year old carpenter in Sherburne, he enlisted at Hamilton for three years and mustered as Private, Company C, 61st New York Infantry on 16 September 1861.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He reenlisted in December 1863, was transferred to Company A, and was promoted to Sergeant on 1 March 1864. He was wounded on the Wilderness (VA) Campaign of May 1864 and transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps on 15 April 1865.

After the War

He returned to Sherburne and practiced his trade of carpentry and joinery there to at least 1880.
