Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 30 year old teamster in Poughkeepsie, NY. He enlisted there on 20 August 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 57th NY Infantry on 4 September.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot through the left leg in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to the US Army General Hospital at Camp A in Frederick, MD on 6 October and died there of wounds on 19 October 1862.
