Before Antietam
A 26 year old farmer on his mother's place in Jefferson Township, Morris County, NJ, he enlisted in Company D, 13th New Jersey Infantry on 9 August 1862 and mustered as Private on 25 August.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 28 September but he died there on 2 October 1862.
After the War
He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
