He had served in the Mexican War as Private, Company F, 7th US Infantry. He enlisted in Company I, 13th New Jersey Infantry on 14 August 1862 and mustered as Corporal on 25 August.

On the Campaign

Reduced in rank to Private and listed as a deserter on 24 October 1862 on Maryland Heights.

After the War

By 1891 he was in the wholesale fish business in Newark, NJ.
