Age 20, he enlisted in Mt. Pleasant on 21 June 1861 and mustered into service as a Private in Company B, 28th Pennsylvania Infantry on 28 June in Philadelphia.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action on 17 September 1862 and died later the same day.
