Before Antietam
Age 22, he enlisted on 7 August 1861 in Coalmont and mustered into service as a Private in Company O, 28th Pennsylvania Infantry on 17 August in Philadelphia.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of his wounds in New York on 4 October 1862.
