Age 31 years, he enlisted on 5 June 1861, at Crown Point, to serve two years and mustered in as Private, Company H, 34th New York Infantry on 15 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the left forefinger and right forearm and hand in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He was treated at the Hoffman Farm Hospital at Sharpsburg, and discharged for disability in February 1863 at Philadelphia, PA.
