He commanded the regiment as senior officer present at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Major, date not given, and was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863. He was held at the Federal prison on Johnson's Island, OH until paroled on 27 April 1865.
