In 1850 he was a 17 year old boatman living with his parents in Brooklyn, NY. On 22 June 1861, then age 28, he enlisted on Long Island, NY, and mustered in as a Private in Company D, 42nd New York Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
