Before Antietam
In 1860 he was an 18 year old apprentice carpenter, living with his parents and 3 siblings in New York City. He enlisted at Great Neck, NY, and mustered as a Private in Company B, 42nd New York Infantry on 22 June 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was discharged for disability on 14 March 1863.
After the War
By 1870 and to at least 1905 he was a carpenter in Manahattan.
