Before Sharpsburg

A 29 year old overseer on his father's farm at Seven Islands in Fluvanna County, he enlisted as a Private in the 2nd Company, Fluvanna Light Artillery. He was appointed Captain on 27 March 1862 and reelected in May.

On the Campaign

He commanded the battery on the Campaign.

The rest of the War

His battery was consolidated with Huckstep's First Company, Fluvanna Artillery in October 1862 and he was relieved of command and assigned as the director of the Passport Office in Richmond, VA. He was paroled on 16 May 1865 at Columbia, VA.

After the War

He was a missionary.
