Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 27 year old clerk living in Erasmus Marable's hotel in LaFayette, Chambers County, AL. He enlisted there on 1 July 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company E, 14th Alabama Infantry. He was detailed as company cook in April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His father Arthur filed a claim for his son's final pay of $125.23 in December 1862.
