Before Sharpsburg
A trained engineer, he took over his father's farm at his death in 1854. He was a 34 year old farmer in Burke's Station, Fairfax County, VA, he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, Company D, 17th Virginia Infantry on 25 April 1861. He was promoted to Captain on 26 April 1862 and wounded in action at Seven Pines, VA on 31 May.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action on 17 September 1862.
