Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 31 year old carpenter in Dalton, GA. He enlisted as 4th Corporal of Company H, 18th Georgia Infantry on 13 June 1861 at Camp McDonald, Kennesaw, GA. He was wounded by a gunshot to his left leg at Cold Harbor, VA on 27 June 1862 and was in a hospital in Dalton, GA on 7 August.

On the Campaign

He was reported missing in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 with no later military record.
